My first Soho acquisition, The Boy in the Suitcase, by Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Friis, comes out today (Tuesday, November 8th).

It’s been a very long time in the making: I bought it a year and a half ago, when I first started. My publisher OKed me to try a grand experiment: a very long lead time, a slow word-of-mouth build for publicity, and a couple other time-consuming tricks for trying to launch this new series.

I’ve learned SO much from this–lessons I hope will translate into success for other books in the future.

Anyway. Please cross your fingers. I have hopes for something special here 🙂

  1. Hope it works! Most of the nichey things I love are around because they were allowed enough time for grassroots to take hold.

Hey, congratulations! This looks like it has the potential to be very big. Best of luck to you and your authors!

  3. I don’t think I realized that this was your first acquisition!!! Soho is so lucky to have you! : )

I’ve got a copy (forget the term for it — unedited proof? something like that) keeping the TBR bookstack warm. The title alone will not let it rest there forever.

    I’m reading it now!
